A musical melting pot of local fiddle traditions with a dash of swing, a pinch of jazz, a sprinkle of rock and pure folk. Their music and spirit is uplifting and energizing. A fun, family-friendly piano program on Saturday, October 10th at 3pm AND 7pm at the Erickson Covenant Church. Performed by Kootenay-renowned Arne Sahlen, it will feature classical, jazz, broadway, original compositions, and children’s’ songs!

Admission by donation (free for ages 10 and under). 50% of the funds raised will go to the Anita Stushnoff Bursary Fund, managed by the CVMTA.

Two Pianos, No Rodeo brings together Bob Wiseman and Mike Boguski, two of Canada’s most unpredictable keyboard minds, for an unforgettable evening of solo piano reimagined. One piano. Two artists. Zero cowboy hats.

Bob Wiseman is a founding member of Blue Rodeo, Juno Award winner, improvisational genre-crossing pianist known to tackle everything from punk and experimental to folk and pop and composing for stage and screen.

Mike Boguski is a current Blue Rodeo pianist whose solo work explores jazz, roots, and ambient soundscapes, using bold improvisation to create subtle, emotionally rich, and evocative experiences.

All of the CVMTA’s students’ Festival of the Arts award winners will be putting on a spectacular concert on Sunday, March 9th, 2025 at the Kootenay River Secondary School auditorium.

Entrance is by donation; you will get to listen to an excellent collection of performances and watch as the students are presented their awards.

The CVMTA is excited to announce that our annual Valentines’ Day themed Cookie Concert will be on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 with a 2:00pm start! It will be at the Erickson Covenant Church: 6017 Canyon-Lister Road.

This year’s theme is “Better Together” where the teachers will be sharing collaborative performances across a variety of instruments.

The concert will be on Sunday, February 2nd, at 2:00pm. Entrance is all by donation, and it will be taking place at the Kootenay River Secondary School auditorium.

This year’s recital will be hosted at the Erickson Covenant Church, at 6017, Canyon-Lister Rd on Saturday, November 16th, with a 2:00pm start. At this recital, the CVMTA will also be presenting Royal Conservatory of Music examination awards.

The Creston Concert Society is welcoming John Reischman and the Jaybirds to our Kootenay River Secondary School auditorium with a great performance planned for Friday, October 25th, at 7:30pm.

The Jaybirds put their own particular stamp on bluegrass, old time and acoustic roots music, with a satisfying blend of traditional and modern styles, and they also give the impression that they really enjoy playing together. There’s plenty here to please both bluegrass traditionalists and lovers of modern American folk music, especially for those with an appreciation of great harmony singing as well as masterful instrumental playing.

Please join the Creston Valley Music Teachers’ Association at the Creston Career Fair!

Doors will open from 2:00pm-3:00pm for high-school students, and will be open to the general public from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

It will be held in the Creston Room at the Creston and Community District Complex.
